Dog bed packing and labeling checklist

Packing and labels are easy to forget until the goods are made. This checklist lists what to settle in the order.

Product-level packing

  • Polybag or woven bag: thickness and print, if any. Bags should have the suffocation warning your retailer requires.
  • Vacuum packing: allowed or not, and the maximum compression time, since long compression can leave the fill slow to recover.
  • Inserts: care card, size chart, or brand card.
  • Hang tag or sticker with barcode, if the buyer requires one.

Labels

  • Fiber content: the fibers and their percentages, as the destination market requires.
  • Country of origin marking in the form required for import.
  • Care instructions: symbols and words in English.
  • Importer or brand name and address as required.
  • Any stuffed-article or bedding label required by the state of sale. Check state rules with a qualified adviser; do not rely on the supplier for this.

Labeling rules differ between product types and between states. We do not give legal advice, and we recommend a compliance review before you print labels for a new product.

Carton-level

  • Carton dimensions and gross weight per carton.
  • Units per carton and carton mark text.
  • Shipping mark: your PO number, model, size, and color.
  • Fragile or this-side-up marks if needed.
  • Carton strength rating suited to the route, especially for sea freight with humidity.

Approval

Ask for a dieline or a photo of every printed item before production. Check spelling, wording, sizes, and barcodes. Record the approval in writing. After production, check a sample of finished cartons against the approved images.
