Industry standards
The standards that come up for dog beds, when they apply, and what document to ask for.
Overview
Standards apply by product type and by market. We name the standard that is relevant and say whether it applies to your market. Confirm applicability with your compliance adviser before you list a product.
Options and checks
| Topic | Standard or regime | Document to ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Harmful substances in textiles | OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (certification scheme for textiles) | Fabric lot; certificate number and expiry |
| Electrical safety for heated products | UL or ETL for North America; IEC-based standards elsewhere | Certificate for exact model and market |
| Chemical restrictions | EU REACH and similar regimes | Supplier declaration for the materials used |
| California warning requirement | Proposition 65 warnings where a listed chemical may be present | Supplier materials declaration; your legal review |
| Labeling and marking | Country-of-origin and market-specific markings | Label spec signed off before production |
Important
Listing a standard on a product page is a claim. Use a standard name only when the document covers the product on that page.
